Tennis has been Alison’s life and passion from a young age. As a junior Alison represented the Scottish Borders, South of Scotland and Scotland at the 4 nations. Her highest ranking was at u14 reaching no.2 in Britain. She was coached individually by Leon Smith, and Judy accompanied her and other juniors to many tournaments in UK and Europe. Judy was the national coach for Scotland and worked with Alison in regular squads. Alison competed in many tournaments in Europe, including winning tournaments in Germany. She’s beaten players such as Broady, who now compete at Wimbledon. Alison has played tennis at Wimbledon with Tim Henman, after winning a series of Robinson’s Aces events. At a young age, she played tennis for Her Majesty the Queen, at the Melrose 7s rugby event.
For a few years she struggled with an arm injury and decided after lots of treatment and an operation at 15, to turn to coaching and help others to learn the game she loves. Her passion for the game is infectious and she has now been coaching for 10 years.
Alison has experience coaching all ages and abilities from Tots Tennis to Cardio Tennis, and from beginners to matchplay doubles tactics. Alison’s passion is for everyone to have fun and learn something new at every lesson. Alison was previously a Coach in England, a coach in Ayrshire, then Head Coach at several small clubs in Ayrshire, and brings a wealth of coaching experience to Drumchapel Tennis Club.
